1. Do South Africans Need a Visa for Turkey?
Yes. South African citizens must have a valid Turkey eVisa to travel. The eVisa allows:
- Multiple entries
- Stay up to 30 days per visit
- Validity of 180 days from the date of issue
It cannot be used for employment, study, or long-term stays. For those purposes, a separate visa must be obtained through the Turkish Embassy.
2. Requirements for South Africans Applying for a Turkey eVisa
Applicants must have:
- A South African passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
- A valid email address to receive the approved visa.
- A debit/credit card to pay the processing fee.
3. Turkey eVisa Application Process
The application can be completed online in a few steps:
- Complete the online form with personal and passport details.

- Receive the approved eVisa by email.
- Carry a printed or digital copy when traveling.
Processing times vary depending on the option selected:
- Normal processing – up to 3 business days
- Urgent processing – within 24 hours
- Super urgent processing – within 5 hours
4. Cost of a Turkey eVisa for South African Citizens
The Turkey eVisa fee consists of:
- Government fee: waived for South African passport holders.
- Service fee: $49 (applicable if using a private visa support service.)
Optional travel insurance may also be purchased to cover medical expenses during the trip.
5. Validity and Duration of Stay
- The eVisa is valid for 180 days from the date of approval.
- Each stay must not exceed 30 days.

6. Important Notes
Children and minors also require their own eVisa.
